GENEROUS darts players have scored a fund-raising bull’s eye.
Women from Sunderland’s Cancer Screening league have raised nearly £9,000 for three charities.
The players will split the cash between Macmillan Cancer Support, the Great North Air Ambulance and Parkinson’s UK.
Cheques for £2,900 will be handed over to representatives from the three good causes at Cheers pub in Hendon, Sunderland.
League chairwoman, Anne Purvis, from Grangetown, said the chosen charities had been picked by the teams who finished in the top three places in the league. Members raised £8,700 for the charities by carrying out collections and raffles between matches in pubs around the city, throughout the course of the season.
The Sunderland women’s darts league, which has 11 teams, has been running for nearly 30 years.
