TWO women were taken to hospital after their cars were involved in a smash on a busy road.
The crash between a Mini convertible and a Suzuki Swift happened on Thompson Road at the junction of Collingwood Road and Goschen Street in Southwick at 6.30pm yesterday.
The 21-year-old who had been driving the Suzuki was able to walk away from her car.
Firefighters from Fulwell Fire Station cut the roof from the Mini to reach its driver, as the roof mechanism was damaged by the impact of the accident.
The woman was put onto a spinal board and both motorists were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
Thompson Road, Collingwood Road and Goschen Street were blocked while the rescue took place and scene was cleared.
