CARE staff and the people they help joined together for a Christmas celebration.

Westhome Care Services held a festive bash at the Business Innovation Centre in Sunderland for everyone involved in the company.

Ann Atkinson, director of Westhome, said: “The party is a chance for everyone to come together and meet each other and celebrate how well we have done this year.”

The service has gone from strength to strength in the 18 months since it opened, going from having one carer and one customer to 39 carers and 37 customers.

Ann said: “We are hoping to grow and grow but we don’t want to lose our personal touch, we want to provide a quality service.”

The service provides care for the elderly, disabled people and children in their homes and has a range of services including taking them on day trips, companionship and help in the home.

Party-goers were treated to a buffet and games.

Anne said: “Just seeing everybody together and everybody making friends is great.

“A lot of these people are quite isolated and living on their own so seeing them smile is great.”
