A CARE home turned the clock back to mark a nationwide awareness week.
Barnes Court care home, High Barnes, hosted a week of nostalgic activities and entertainment in honour of Dementia Awareness Week.
The residential accommodation’s hair salon converted into a beauty parlour where residents and guests were treated to 1940s-style make-overs.
Other activities included arts and crafts, quizzes and a sing-a-long.
The celebrations were rounded off with a 1940s-themed tea party on Friday.
Staff and residents donned period clothing before enjoying a host of traditional treats including cakes, teas and beer.
Care Manager Debbie Daniels, said: “We work closely with our local Alzheimer’s Society and were really keen to hold a full week of entertainment in honour of Dementia Awareness Week.
“We thought that it would be a perfect way to end the week by bringing everyone together for a nostalgic tea party.”
Dementia Awareness week is an initiative started by the Alzheimer’s Society.
