TEN cars have been damaged by vandals on a rampage through a quiet village.
Police are appealing for witnesses after cars in Edmondsley, near Chester-le-Street, were scratched and spray painted during a night of vandalism which left a trail of destruction adding up to several thousand pounds-worth of damage.
A house in Jubilee Close was also vandalised with spray paint during the night of Wednesday, March 21.
Police say cars were damaged in Braeside, Fleece Terrace, Rosedale Gardens, Jubilee Close and Watson Buildings, with some vehicles having aerials and windscreen wipers ripped off.
Pc Ellis Hall is urging anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity that night to contact the police.
He said: “This is a particularly quiet and safe community and it is surprising to see how someone has caused this much damage in such a short space of time.”
Anyone with information is asked to ring Durham Constabulary on 101 and ask for PC Ellis Hall, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
