CALENDAR stars have laid themselves bare in their latest photoshoot after words of wisdom from the women who first put themselves in focus.

The Sunderland-based Cervical Cancer Campaign has been inspired by the original Women’s Institute members, who posed for the naked shots to raise funds for charity.

Amy Pink, 31, from Humbledon, who runs the Wearside organisation, said: “I spoke to the original Calendar Girls and asked if they would mind us doing a fully naked shoot, as that’s what they did, but they are retiring so they said of course, it’s fine.”

The naked photoshoot is the third Christmas one the Sunderland ladies have done, but it’s first one fully naked, and once again is aimed at raising the profile of the cervical cancer.

Amy said: “The Christmas shoot was just something extra that we wanted to do.”

The organisation took the photos after the launch of its second calendar in September, which was made in memory of Amy’s friend Anne Stamp, who died from cervical cancer, aged 41.

Anne’s sister Sara Smith, 40, and niece Brogan Stafford, 21, are also members of the campaign.

Amy said: “We want to raise the profile of the disease to warn that it can affect anyone, at any age.”

The calendar, which had a global theme, was inspired by Miss World and won the women a nomination for a national What’s On 4 Me Award.

The campaign narrowly missed out on a prize and got down to a shortlist of five in the category of best community or charity group.

The proceeds from the calendar go to the Annie’s Dream Fund, which Anne’s family set up in her memory, and will raise funds for Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Nurses.

Amy said: “We want people to know about cervical cancer. It affects lots of women and needs to be highlighted.

“People just don’t talk about it.”

As well as the calendar and photoshoots, the Cervical Cancer Campaign is also running a competition in the lead-up to Christmas.

The winner can enjoy a prize of clothes from 100% Essex in Chester Road, a spray tan from the salon Lush, and accessories from Amy’s company Dangerous Couture, as well as other prizes.

To enter the competition answer the following question: In The Only Way is Essex, who is Joey Essex’s girlfriend? Is it Sam Faiers, Billy Faiers or Lucy Mecklenburgh.

Answers should be sent to pinkentertainment@hotmail.co.uk, or 100% Essex, Chester Road, Sunderland.

The closing date for the competition is December 10.

Calendars can still be bought from Mandy’s Candy in Southwick, and cost £6.
