CAKES and smiles helped bring in the cash at a Sunderland call centre.

Baking got under way as staff at EDF Energy at Doxford International pulled on their aprons.

The employees sold their delicious treats to raise money to support Great Britain’s Paralympic hopefuls.

Kevin Gatens, EDF Energy’s head of customer contact centre North East, said: “Paralympic GB is a fantastic charity that inspires and influences people with disabilities to get involved and excel in sport

“Our employees have been getting involved in a number of activities to help raise money for the athletes that are preparing for the Paralympic games”.

Since EDF’s partnership with the British Paralympic Association began in 2010, the company’s employees across all sites have raised £16,000.
