TELEGRAPH poles have been chopped down in an attack believed to be linked to cable thefts.

TELEGRAPH poles have been chopped down in an attack believed to be linked to cable thefts.

 The damage and attempted theft of wires was caused to the structures near to West Rainton on Sunday.

 Police suspect the incident is connected to the increasing number of similar reports in recent months.

 It was followed by another attack on overhead lines between Old Quarrington and a nearby cemetery, when 350metres was taken.
