SUCCESS is in the bag for Sunderland law firm Mortons.

The company is once again sponsoring the goodie bags at the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards presentation evening next week.

Mortons has undergone a number of changes since last year’s awards as the demand for business and employment advice has continued to build on the previous year’s success.

Managing partner Angela Ashcroft said: “It is pleasing to see the increase in business-related inquiries, which is indicative of the fact that local business continues to pick up and I am sure that this is largely due to the drive among Sunderland firms to keep business local wherever possible.

“We are grateful to the community for supporting us as a firm and are very pleased to be in a position to once again repay that support through our sponsorship of the Portfolio Awards.”

Mortons has recently appointed Andrew Simpson, formerly of MHL Legal, as an associate solicitor within the Business and Employment Department.

The firm has also opened a branch office in Seaham. As well as paving the way for the firm’s continued expansion, both sites will offer Mortons’ full range of services.

Senior partner David Place said: “The last couple of years have seen us increase our market share in what is a very competitive environment.

“I feel sure our new Seaham office will strengthen our position still further in terms of the provision of business and employment advice.”

The Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards 2011 will be presented at a ceremony at the Stadium of Light next Thursday, October 13. For tickets, contact Sorted PR on 265 6111 or visit www.echoportfolioawards.co.uk
