It’s that time again - the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards 2015 are here.

This year’s awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, October 15, and entries are open now.

It has been a tough few years, but with recovery now well under way, I am confident we will see a huge range of good news stories.

Echo editorial director Joy Yates said: “The Portfolio Awards have established themselves as a fixture in the North East business calendar.

“We are delighted to be able to celebrate business success across Wearside, South Tyneside and East Durham and I am sure this year will be our best ever.

“It has been a tough few years, but with recovery now well under way, I am confident we will see a huge range of good news stories.”

Sunderland City Council is again our headline sponsor, and will sponsor our overall Business of the Year Award, as well as a Lifetime Achievement award, which is in the council’s gift.

This year sees a new category sponsored by the council, which will recognise the contribution social enterprises make to the city.
