SOFTWARE industry leaders called on George Osborne to prove his commitment to low-carbon and hi-tech industries.
Bernie Callaghan, chief executive of Sunderland Software City, said: “The Government has spoken promisingly about how it wants to drive the economic recovery by encouraging private sector growth.
“The budget is the perfect opportunity to outline how it intends to do that.
“We know resources are tight, but investing wisely is not the same as investing massively. Software companies don’t need intensive investment to thrive – it’s very much a question of have laptop, will create.
“When you combine that with instantly exportable products for which there is a growing global market and the right support, you have the perfect recipe for rapid growth”.
Mr Callaghan wants tax incentives to help business innovate and take on new staff.
