CITY property giant Gentoo is looking into merging its construction arm with an industry rival.

The firm has confirmed it is in talks with Tolent about setting up a joint venture.

But the Echo understands it is too early to say what impact – if any – the move will have on the firm’s 60 staff.

A joint statement from Gentoo Group chief executive Peter Walls and John Wood, chairman of Tolent Ltd, confirmed the two businesses were in early stage talks about working together: “We are looking at creating a joint venture which would enable both organisations to share skills and knowledge in different and complementary areas of work.

“We feel that this synergy will enable the best prospects of a sustainable regional business, protecting its workforce and enhancing its offer into the future.”
