PROFESSOR Peter Fidler, vice-chancellor of the University of Sunderland, has joined the board of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.

Prof Fidler (pictured) will sit alongside business, local government and further education leaders on the board, replacing professor Chris Brink, vice-chancellor of Newcastle University.

A town planner by profession, Prof Fidler has contributed to civic and regional economic development as a member of several development bodies in the region.

He said: “I am looking forward to being part of the decision-making body.”
