HEALTH workers have helped staff at a major Sunderland manufacturing company to live healthier lives.
At the request of Castletown-based Grundfos, South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust arranged free mini-health checks, including blood pressure, height and weight, for staff and almost 70 people took up the offer.
As a result, about 60 of them were given a free 12-week personalised health plan to help them achieve their various goals, from losing weight and eating healthier, to stopping smoking and increasing their physical fitness.
General manager at Grundfors Lee Carlin said: “I would definitely recommend more companies to take up the challenge and work alongside their health trainers for the benefit of their employees.”
A weight-loss challenge was also held, in which the firm agreed to donate £1 for every 1lb staff lost and £1 for each goal achieved as part of the health plans to charities linked to cancer and Alzheimer’s research.
About £260 was raised.
