WILL life be a beach for the latest addition to the seafront?

The Beach House will open its doors this weekend after 1879 Events Management, the catering arm of SAFC, announced it was launching a new cafe and bistro.

FA Cup-winning hero Jimmy Montgomery and club legend Kevin Ball will cut the ribbon at 1pm on Saturday at the venue, which is located within the new Pier Point development on Marine Walk, Roker.

The launch will take place from 10am with fun activities from the Foundation of Light, including penalty shoot-outs, football tennis and beach volleyball.

SAFC mascots Samson and Delilah will also be on hand to meet youngsters.

The menu promises bistro-style lunches featuring locally-sourced produce and seafood, burger dishes and sandwiches. There will also be an ice-cream, popcorn and candy bar.

Sunderland AFC’s commercial director, Gary Hutchinson, said: “The Beach House is an exciting new venture for 1879 Events Management, and we are really excited by its potential. There have been some really positive developments on the seafront in recent months, and we hope The Beach House will be a must-visit destination for people in Sunderland.”

The Beach House will be open for morning coffee, lunch and through until early evening, Monday to Friday, with extended hours across weekends and for special events such as the Sunderland Airshow.
