THE search is on for the person who will lead Sunderland through a massive facelift.
Siglion is a new partnership between construction giant Carillion and Sunderland City Council, set up to redevelop publicly-owned sites across the city, including the former Vaux site and parts of Seaburn and Chapelgarth.
Now, the partnership is looking for a new chief executive.
City council leader, Coun Paul Watson, said: “Siglion will transform Sunderland for the benefit of everybody who lives, works in or visits the city.
“We are looking for someone with a great track record in regeneration to lead from the front.
“The new chief executive, whether from a public or private sector background, must understand and share our vision to reinvigorate the city, and have the skills and experience to put that into action.”
l Coun Watson will lead the new North East “super-council” on economic development.
Newcastle City Council leader Coun Nick Forbes will lead the combined authority on involving transport and Coun Grant Davey, leader of Northumberland County Council, will handle issues relating to work and social inclusion.
