The Bridges continues to attract new arrivals such as stationery firm Smiggle, cosmetics company Kiko Milano, bakers Milligans and national brand Halloween HQ.

As well as ensuring many jobs for the city, the Bridges is a strong supporter of many city-wide initiatives, ensuring Sunderland is a great place to live, work and spend leisure time.

It is a founder member of Sunderland’s Vibrancy Group, supports the university student community and Sunderland College, and constantly strives to bring in new retailers.

One of the judges, in the meeting to choose the winner, hailed The Bridges saying “everything they do goes above and beyond”.

They were praised for their contribution to the city centre which has been a contribution, which has continued for years.

Bridges marketing manager Samantha Czwordon-Wright described the award win as “quite incredible” and said: “We consistently work extremely hard to be the best in the city centre.”

Retail liaison manager John Green said they were very conscious that the Bridges was successful if the whole of the city centre was successful.

Admin assistant Kimberley Jackson said: “We are a big supporter of local business and all the retailers and we could not run a successful centre without them.”
