More nursing jobs are being made available on Wearside after a company signed a deal with another firm.

City Care Sunderland has new positions on offer after bosses joined with Care Plus.

It’s quite an exciting time for the company right now because we’ve grown a lot in those 10 years.

City Care director Gillian Hanson

City Care provides staff to the National Health Service as well as private firms in the North East.

“It’s quite a lot of expansion which will be going on over the next year or so,” said City Care director Gillian Hanson.

“The jobs involving nursing services, helping people learning disabilities, children’s services and supported living.

“We’re now looking for nurses.

“Since the expansion started, we have got about 10 in but we need many more.

“We’ve also expanded into other areas.

“Previously we were just in Sunderland, but now we supply nurses to Washington and South Tyneside.”

The signing of the agreement comes as City Care, whose head office is in Quay West, close to the River Wear, celebrates 10 years since it was created.

“It’s quite an exciting time for the company right now because we’ve grown a lot in those 10 years,” added Ms Hanson.

“City Care used to just supply workers for residential homes, but we now include care and supported homes too.

“We have got 81 staff with us at the minute and that is growing each week.

“We’ve got a massive recruitment drive happening on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

“We’re also looking for management level staff.”
