GO on, then – you can have another week.
The deadline to enter the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards 2014 was due to expire at the close of business today.
But after a last-minute rush of enquiries, we have decided to extend the time limit to make sure that no one misses out on the chance to pick up a trophy at our October presentation evening.
This year marks our 10th anniversary, and the Portfolio awards evening has become a fixture in the business calendar across Wearside, East Durham and South Tyneside.
“We have been delighted with the response to this year’s awards,” said Echo editor John Szymanski.
“We know how important it is to celebrate all that is best in business and that is why we have decided to extend our deadline for another week, to make sure that no one has to miss out on the chance of glory.
This year sees the return of our most popular categories, as well as the debut of a couple of new awards, so there should be something to suit every business large or small, new or long-established.
Our Special Community, New Business (under two years), Best Training Provider, Exporter and Employer of the Year awards are all returning this year.
Also back are our Technology, Green Business, Leisure and Small (under 10 employees), Medium (11-plus employees) and Large (more than 50 employees) Business categories.
This year sees the debut of two new categories: Apprentice/Trainee of the Year; and City Centre Business of the Year, sponsored by the Sunderland Business Improvement District.
Sunderland City Council is once again our main sponsor and is backing our Overall Business of the Year category, and a Lifetime Contribution Award, which is judged by the authority.
The ceremony will be held at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, October 9, and entries close at the end of business a week from today, Friday, September 5.
