JOHN Watchman has no regrets about swapping a life on the road for a life helping others to hit the road.
John is sales manager with Bristol Street Motors’ Sunderland Vauxhall dealership – but he used to be a member of the popular band Love Affair, whose hits include Everlasting Love and Rainbow Valley, before joining the firm in 1978.
“I am very proud of my past career in music, and I look back on those days very fondly,” he said.
“My passion now is for cars and I love working in an industry that gives me the opportunity to build up great customer relationships and help people to get the car they really want.
The Alexandra Avenue dealership has undergone a major refurbishment, with a new showroom and created six new jobs.
Customers Derek Rodgers, Joe Watson and Malcolm Elves have between them bought 74 cars and been dealing with John for 101 years.
“The new dealership is really impressive and it’s always good to see a company investing in Sunderland and new jobs being created,” said Derek. “I have been dealing with John for more than three decades – he is polite, friendly and knowledgeable about the brand and the motor industry.”
Jass Singh, general manager, said: “We are thrilled to be able to welcome six new colleagues to our dealership.”
– it is always wonderful to welcome new faces and continue to improve on the services that we offer.”
