NOVUS is coming to Seaham.

East Durham Business Service (EDBS) is expanding its successful Novus office accommodation brand, with a new Business Centre on the Spectrum Business Park.

Novus Seaham will provide office space for a range of small businesses, from those making the move from home to their first commercial premises to growing companies in search of larger space.

It aims to encourage the creation of up to 28 new businesses and 120 new jobs and bring more than 15,500 sq ft of vacant floor space into use.

EDBS chief executive Peter Chapman said: “We’re extremely proud to be developing this new centre as, now more than ever, it is important to support new local businesses and help to establish their growth.

“Seaham will be the ideal location for many of the region’s young businesses looking for office accommodation and, in addition, EDBS will be able to support any business taking tenancy at either of our locations, be it Peterlee or Seaham, with their ongoing business needs.”

Sandra Wardle, Novus Business Centre Co-ordinator at Peterlee, said: “Novus Seaham has been designed to house a range of young businesses whether at their start, develop or growth stage and will have office space for one to two persons to up to 18 people.”

Businesses using the offices will also be able to benefit from EDBS help, with in-house support on business, marketing, apprenticeships, finance and retail available.

The project has also been supported and part-financed by Durham County Council.

Peter McDowell, Business Property Manager at the authority, said: “Business Durham is committed to making County Durham a top location for business.

“Novus Seaham provides much needed accommodation for new businesses that will go a long way to achieving this aim and we are delighted to be one of the funders.”
