A STUDENT has picked up a prestigious award.
Kate Ebblewhite, from Shotton Colliery, has been announced as the winner of the prestigious regional EEF/Rolls Royce Young Engineer Award.
Kate will go on to compete against other regional winners from across the UK.
Her older sister, Anna, also won the award last year.
Kate, who studied her BTEC Engineering and GCSEs at St Bede’s Catholic Comprehensive and Byron College in Peterlee, won for her long-held commitment to manufacturing and engineering and proving that industry is not a man’s world.
The high quality of her work has seen her nominated for the National Science and Engineering Awards.
Neil Fowkes, Rolls Royce learning and development manager, said: “A skilled workforce is essential to the future success of advanced manufacturing. We are therefore delighted to sponsor this award which will recognise outstanding achievement.”
