A NORTH East business conference is set to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The Entrepreneurs’ Forum and Women into the Network (WIN) groups are hosting the event next month in Durham City in a bid to encourage more women in the region to overcome barriers in business.

It will offer women the opportunity to connect, share experiences and develop in an “innovative and inspirational” environment.

Carole Beverly, chief executive of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said: “There has been so much talk in the past about barriers for women to senior roles in the workplace and difficulty of ‘breaking through the glass ceiling’, that it is encouraging to see initiatives aimed at empowering women emerging at a central and European level.

“International Women’s Day and our conference are about just that and much, much more. It is about recognising the achievements of women all over the world.”

The conference includes speakers such as former Dragon’s Den panellist Rachel Elnaugh and the founder of the MOBO urban music organisation, Kanya King MBE. The conference will take place on March 8 at the Radisson Hotel, in Durham.

Tickets start at £50 + VAT for forum and WIN members and £65 + VAT for non-members.
