ARTISTS and craftspeople took over Sunniside Gardens to showcase their wares.
The area played host to around 18 stalls for a Makers Market where shoppers could pick up local arts, crafts and food.
It’s thought around 800 people attended.
Chris Alexander, chief operating officer of Sunderland Live, who organised the market, was delighted with the event.
He said: “Sunniside is a fantastic asset for the city centre and is home to some great businesses. We hoped that the Makers Market would provide another reason for people to visit and enjoy the stalls and some of the cafes, bars and restaurants in the area.
“The traders at the Market were all very happy and are eager to do more. They advised us that the stalls layout worked really well.”
