A specialist groundworks and civil engineering sub-contractor is helping to reward the best in Wearside business.

K&L Groundworks is on board as a sponsor of the Sunderland Echo Portfolio awards and bosses can’t wait to honour the champions of industry.

We are proud of the work we carry out. We get a lot of repeat business from big clients. We must be doing something right if they keep coming back to us

Kath Laverty, K&L Groundworks

Company secretary Kath Laverty said: “It is nice to recognise what other people are doing, whatever their expertise is. There are some good stories out there.”

She said K&L was “proud” to be behind the competition which is now entering its last fortnight for entries.

K&L is based at Rennys Lane in Durham and is a groundworks operation which also has a drainage division, concrete flooring section, and plant hire. It has 51 staff and clientele from North Yorkshire to Northumberland.

“We are proud of the work we carry out,” said Kath. “We get a lot of repeat business from big clients. We must be doing something right if they keep coming back to us.

“We are in a good place with good clients, good jobs and good staff.”
