THE future is sunny for an eco-friendly Wearside firm.

The Energy Experts, based at the Evolve Business Centre in Rainton Bridge, is aiming to at least double staff numbers and is targeting an almost eight-fold increase in turnover in the next 12 months.

David Murray and Alex Kurek started the business: “We are looking to double, if not triple, the workforce and we have already started recruiting,” said David.

“We want to increase our turnover to £30million in a year.

“We want to build and replicate our model across the UK. It is an ambitious plan but we think it is deliverable.”

The business currently has 19 staff and an annual turnover of £4million, but is putting in place a new business model to provide solar panels which will result in a major increase in jobs and income.

“There is now a viable opportunity to make around £15,000 back over 20 years with the Feed in Tariff (FIT) from an investment of less than £6,000,” said David. “It means we can effectively offer people free solar panels. They are paid for by investors – users get the electricity while the FIT goes to the investors for 20 years.”
