TONIGHT’S the night.

The cream of business from Sunderland, South Tyneside and East Durham will gather at the Stadium of Light this evening for the presentation of the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards 2014.

The awards have become a fixture in the North-East business calendar over the last 10 years, thanks in no small part to the generous support of our many sponsors.

Property business Gentoo has backed the Portfolio awards from the very start, and this year is no different.

“We’re really excited to be sponsoring the Special Community Award at this year’s Portfolio Awards,” said chief executive Peter Walls. “

At Gentoo, we feel it’s important to recognise the hard work and commitment of organisations who help make the North East a great place to live and work, and what better way to do it.

“We all have an opportunity to make a huge difference to the community and the society of which we are all a part, so we can’t wait to see how people are making positive changes in their areas.

“We want to wish good luck to everyone who are entering the awards.”

• We are covering the awards live on Twitter. Follow @sunderlandecho and use #portfolio to get involved.

We will have a round-up of tonight’s event online when the awards come to a close – along with all of your winners.

And keep an eye out for a video from the awards appearing on sunderlandecho.com on Friday.
