THREE brothers are helping to bring new hope to jobseekers in Chester-le-Street.

Scott Pallister, 30, set up 0800 Repair in 2009 and, since then, his engineers have been spotted across the country in distinctive their yellow and black branded vans complete with seven-foot screwdrivers on the top.

The company – which fixes domestic appliances – has now opened its first High Street shop, creating three new jobs in the town and offering people a comprehensive repair service.

Scott’s brother Phil, 29, followed him into the company last year to oversee its expansion into gas repairs and youngest brother Matthew, 23, recently became its financial controller.

Founded by experienced engineers, the Chester-le-Street-based company is part of the Pacifica Group, which provides and sells warranties for domestic appliances.

Currently turning over £14million, 0800 Repair hopes to grow this figure to £25million in the next five years. Scott said the company is built on the concept of having employees, franchisees and approved sub-contractors and hopes to develop a further 150 franchises over the next three years.

“As soon as I launched 0800 Repair, it was obvious that it was going to hit the mark with customers, and as we have grown I have brought my brothers on board,” he said. “It’s great working with your family – you know you can trust them implicitly. We have lively debates but we never fall out!”

And Scott is confident that 2011 is going to be a good one for 0800 Repair and the people who work for it.

“When times are hard, as they are now, people really see the value of repairing things rather than throwing them away,” he said. “Our new shop is an exciting venture, and we think we can offer the people of Chester-le-Street a valuable service that they have been missing.”

Store manager Kevin Gray said the shop will sell electrical appliances as well as being a drop off point for TV’s and other portable items to be repaired. “Our staff who all live locally – have many years of electrical retail experience between them,” he added.
