GO ON then – we’ll give you another week.
The deadline for entering the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Awards 2013 was due to expire at the close of play today.
But after a rush of last-minute inquiries, we’ve decided to extend the closing deadline for another week, to make sure everyone who wants to enter gets the chance to do so.
“With times as tough as they have been recently, everyone is working their hardest to make their business a success,” said Echo deputy editor Richard Ord.
“But that means it’s easy for things like the Portfolio deadline to catch people unawares.
“It’s more important now than ever that we grab the chance to celebrate all the good things that are happening and give our great workers and businesses a pat on the back.
“And, of course, our awards evening also represents a great opportunity for people to network. Who knows – even if you don’t win an award, you might just make a valuable new contact.”
As well as our overall Business of the Year award, categories are: Small Business (up to 10 employees); Medium Business (11–50 employees); Large Business (over 50 employees); Employer of the Year; Employee of the Year; Technology; New Business (under two years); Special Community Award; Green Business; Training; Export; Leisure and Creative Industries.
Entering the awards is free and could hardly be easier, with everything done online. But you’ll need to get a move on – the deadline is this Friday.
Sunderland City Council is again our main sponsor, and our Lifetime Achievement Award will be in the council’s gift.
Other sponsors include Grafton Group, Mortons, The Bridges, Azure, CES Group, Northumbrian Water, SAFC, Sunderland University, Thompson Waste Centres, Gentoo and TTR Barnes.
Black Cats legend Kevin Ball will be the speaker at our awards night at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, October 10.
