East Durham students help design Peterlee company’s new website

A CLOTHING firm is stepping online, thanks to the help of college students.

Interactive Media students from East Durham College have been helping Dewhirst Factory Outlet with its web design.

As part of a social enterprise project, Dewhirst’s Peterlee store manager, Kelly Huntingdon, briefed students about increasing the company’s online presence.

The class helped to create an active social media output for the company through Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Working in smaller teams, the students were also tasked with designing a new website for the company, which they then pitched to bosses.

After a Dragons’ Den-style presentation, Kelly and her team selected a website design by Laura Tupling, Laura Gleghorn, Sophie Gray and Ashleigh Duff.

Kelly said: “It has been fantastic and a great opportunity to work alongside college lecturer Ruth Cabourne and the students from East Durham College on creating our store’s new website.”
