A SUNDERLAND branch of electrical goods chain Currys will close at the end of next month – but no job losses are predicted.

The company today confirmed that the Currys Digital store, which is in High Street West in the city centre, will shut on Saturday, November 1, as the existing lease on the store runs out.

Bosses say that the move is part of a plan to move staff into larger stores and that no job losses are expected.

A spokesman for Currys PC World said: “We can confirm the store will be closing on November 1 as part of our ongoing portfolio review.

“The team have been informed and they will be taking up roles in nearby stores.”
