CHARITY champions are once again being asked to splash out in the North Sea for a Boxing Day dip.
East Durham 368 Round Table is encouraging fund-raisers to join in the annual event at Seaham Harbour Docks to raise money for its community fund.
Money from the fund is used to help charities and good causes around East Durham, including schools and youth centres.
Group chairman Paul Hepple said he hopes to make this year’s event the best yet, adding: “I would love it if about 200 people came down and got involved. That would make it bigger than ever. I want to get as many people from our town down for whatever charity they want to raise money for.
“Every year, people come out in droves to take part.
“Hopefully, it will be the same this year.
“We are always massively supported by the community, and we couldn’t do it without them.”
East Durham 368 Round Table, founded about 25 years ago, has been running the event for a decade since taking over from East Durham Divers.
Last year’s dip attracted a turnout of about 150.
Registrations will be taken between 10.30am and 11am at Seaham Marina on Boxing Day. Taking part costs £5 per person. The dip will start at 11am.
