A WEARSIDE college is aiming to match 100 young people with businesses in the region.
As part of its largest ever apprenticeship drive, Sunderland College is calling for people to sign up to 100 apprenticeship vacancies that are currently available with businesses in the region.
The 100 apprenticeship drive, available to anyone over the age of 16, comes after Sunderland College strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of executive director of commercial activity, Iain Nixon, to help grow the college’s employer-facing activity. Jane Thompson, director of enterprise and commercial development, said: “I’m thrilled Sunderland College, through a sustained relationship with businesses in the region, has secured 100 apprenticeship vacancies for people in the region.
“As employers and educators, we have a responsibility to ensure we create real opportunities for our young people and that we do what we can to make it possible for them to enter into their career in a way that suits their own learning style and development needs.”
Anne Isherwood, principal of Sunderland College, said: “Over the past couple of years, we have invested largely in the provision of apprenticeships as they offer a great solution for people looking for a blend of practical and theoretical skills to meet their needs.
“Apprenticeships really are win-win.
“I hope to see young people in the region sign up to such a fantastic opportunity.”
