A MILLION pound advertising campaign promoting tourism in the North East goes on display at Heathrow Airport today.
Durham Cathedral is one of the region’s attractions featured in the VisitBritain adverts.
In July, members of the public were asked to vote for one of four different regions to win the advertising campaign.
The North East came out on top against the North West, Northern Ireland and the Midlands.
As well as Durham Cathedral, images of Bamburgh Castle, Hadrian’s Wall, Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside and the Angel of the North are on show until December.
North East Chamber of Commerce chief executive, James Ramsbotham, said: “The iconic images showcase the North East at its beautiful best.
“Our unique blend of rural, cosmopolitan and industrial areas makes the North East a very special region indeed.”
