DOZENS of jobs are up for grabs on Wearside today and tomorrow.

About 100 new software vacancies will be on offer at the Sunderland Software Jobs Fair, taking place at the E-volve Centre in Rainton Bridge today and Sunderland Software Centre tomorrow.

This is a fantastic opportunity for people already working in the sector and looking for a new challenge, or those who are working in other roles but have the skills and qualifications to pursue a career in the sector, to come and find out what’s on offer in the city.

Companies including home-grown software firm Leighton, internet shopping cart recovery company SaleCycle and global IT business Saggezza, which recently moved into the Software Centre, will have a range of IT and customer relationship roles available.

All of the businesses taking part are based in the city.

City council leader Coun Paul Watson said: “The Sunderland Software Jobs Fair is a fantastic opportunity for people already working in the sector and looking for a new challenge.

“Or for those who are working in other roles, but have the skills and qualifications to pursue a career in the sector, to come and find out what’s on offer in the city.

“Sunderland is home to so many world-leading software, IT and gaming businesses, and this event really does prove that it is a sector on the up. Having so many high-end jobs on offer, and bringing all of those employers together in one place, represents a great opportunity for people who are out of work, or those looking for their next career move.

“We expect to see a really good turnout across the two days.” Martin Williams, managing director of Saggezza UK, said: “Saggezza is a fast-growing company and it is vital to us that we have a pipeline of skilled people to help us to continue with this growth.”
