Rescue at Durham Cathedral.

Rescue at Durham Cathedral.

A MAN who was knocked over by a bus on Monday is still fighting for his life in hospital.

The 62-year-old, from Hetton, was airlifted to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) after he was struck near Durham bus station at about 3pm.

He remains in hospital, where he is being treated for serious chest injuries, and was yesterday said to still be in a critical, but stable, condition.

Officers investigating the collision are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, and anyone with information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101 and ask for the collision investigation unit.
