A MAN knocked down by a bus is on the mend as he recovers in hospital.
The 62-year-old was injured at 3pm on Tuesday when it is thought he was crossing North Road in Durham, close to the city’s bus station.
He was taken by the Great North Air Ambulance to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) after one of its helicopters landed on Palace Green, next to Durham Cathedral. He was said to be in a stable but critical condition after sustaining serious chest injuries, but Durham Constabulary now say he is improving as he continues to receive treatment.
Investigators have spoken to a number of people who saw the collision, but are appealing for anyone who has information to get in touch via 101.
