A BURGLAR who raided a Chinese takeaway and took £2,000-worth of property has been spared jail.
Sean Devonport, 27, of Station Road, Hebburn, targeted the Lucky House in Sulgrave, Washington, shortly after closing time on April 2 last year.
At Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, Recorder Jonathan Sandiford ordered him to pay £200 and carry out 120 hours unpaid work.
He said: “I don’t see whey the public should pay to keep you in a prison cell.”
Devonport admitted burlgary at an earlier hearing.
