SUNDERLAND AFC fans face problems getting to the first match of the new season.
Northumbria Police has reminded supporters attending tomorrow’s home match against Fulham to allow extra time to get to and from the ground.
Ongoing roadworks on the Wearmouth Bridge means that the number of lanes will be reduced, and drivers are being asked to show extra patience during their journeys.
Chief Inspector Sarah Pitt said: “Sunderland’s first game of the season will coincide with ongoing roadworks on the Wearmouth Bridge.
“As a result, there is likely to be increased congestion in the area tomorrow.
“People should give themselves more time to get to the game if they are planning to use the bridge, and listen to local radio traffic updates for the latest on traffic conditions on the day.”
