Boy taken to hospital after car accident

PARAMEDICS were called when a six-year-old boy was hit after running into the path of an oncoming car.

The accident happened shortly before 5.40pm in Crow Lane, Herrington, yesterday.

The youngster, who was with his father, suffered minor injuries.

The accident, near the 2nd Herrington Scout Hut, was reported to police and officers attended along with the ambulance service.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said the boy was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital as a precaution.
