Police believe a body found at a hotel could be missing Chester-le-Street woman Alison Stamps.
Durham Police were called to Hardwick Hall Hotel near Sedgefield, at lunchtime today.
The body has not yet been formally identified, but the 33-year-old’s family have been informed.
Alison, from Ouston, was last seen leaving Boots at the retail park in Bishop Auckland, where she works as a pharmacist, at 11pm on Saturday.
She left work in her car, a blue three-door Mini Cooper which has a white roof and the registration AS14MPS.
Inspector Kevin Maddick, leading the search for her, said it was “completely out of character” for Alison not to have contacted her family.
They grew increasingly worried when she did not turn up for work this morning.
