A MOTORBIKER was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg after being involved in a collision with a van.
The A181 flyover off the A19 near Wingate had to be closed for more than two hours after the crash at 3.50pm yesterday.
The Great North Air Ambulance also landed nearby to assist paramedics.
But the helicopter was not needed and the 40-year-old man, from Blackhall, was taken by road to hospital.
A spokesman for the air ambulance said: “We were called to attend a road traffic accident where a male had come off a motorbike.
“We assisted the road paramedics to prepare the patient for hospital before he was taken to North Tees by road with leg injuries.”
