SHOP workers swapped their tills for the tide as they helped clear up a beach.
Staff from M&S branches at Dalton Park in Murton and Durham’s Silver Street and Arnison Centre, spent yesterday morning at Seaham beach.
During the session they catalogued what was picked up, which will help Durham Heritage Coast and partners find out how rubbish got on to the coastline and prevent further incidents.
A total of 75kg of waste was removed and it is hoped more litter picks will soon take place.
Niall Benson, heritage coast officer, was also able to identify and show them the remains of shark eggs found among natural debris uncovered.
