SUNDERLAND AFC and BFS Group have announced Bidvest will continue as the Black Cats main sponsor next season.

The Bidvest logo will continue to be sported on Sunderland’s home and away kits for the new season, which are set to be unveiled to fans in the coming weeks.

BFS Group is the main UK operation of Bidvest Foodservice, which is the largest global foodservice business outside North America, employing 137,000 across four continents.

The company is based in South Africa and is part of SAFC’s footprint across the African continent, where the Black Cats are one of the most recognised English teams.

The club has football and business partnerships in South Africa, Tanzania and Ghana.

Activity across other African territories is also in development as are plans to increase the club’s presence across a range of territories, including Asia and the USA.

Sunderland AFC’s commercial director, Gary Hutchinson, said: “We have enjoyed a fantastic first year with BFS Group and Bidvest as our principal partner.

“We want to continue to increase our international commercial activity to help strengthen our aims to be a top football club and our partnership with a company with the global credentials of Bidvest Foodservice is helping us to achieve those aims.

“Through our existing work in Africa and new developments in the coming months in Asia and the USA, we are working to increase the club’s presence across a range of territories.”

The Bidvest Group also owns Bidvest Wits, one of the largest football clubs on the African continent, with whom SAFC partner.
