Ben enjoys a coastal adventure as he puts Seaham's daring activities to the test

Explorer Ben Fogle has been conquering waterspots in Seaham as he showcases some of the region's most adreneline-fuelled challenges.

The broadcaster visited County Durham to film an action-packed video for an episode of his online series Ben Fogle’s Great British Adventure.

Visit County Durham, which played host to the TV personality, commissioned the show in a bid to champion the county’s amazing outdoor attractions and activities to a world-wide audience.

He tried out watersports at the activity centre in Seaham, due to open later this year, and a walk along the Durham Heritage Coast in East Durham.

He also went waterfall jumping at Low Force and visited High Force, mountain biking at Hamsterley Forest, and covered areas of the Durham Dales and North Pennines.

Ben hailed the county for its “beautiful countryside and coastline to historic vale and vibrant city.”

He said: “I’m hugely looking forward to showcasing Durham’s great outdoors.

“It’s a county of contrasts, with everything from beautiful countryside and coastline to historic vale and vibrant city.

“This video will help to raise the profile of Durham’s outdoor activities – and hopefully inspire even more people to visit and see for themselves.”

The County Durham episode of Ben Fogle’s Great British Adventure will be hosted on the website www.britainisgreat.com from September.
