Ewesley Road WI celebrates its 18th anniversary meeting in The Enid Dagg Room of the church on Wednesday, October 5, at 2.15pm. The stall is for the Shoe Box Appeal, competition is Guesstimate, and there will be tea hostessess.
Deptford and Millfield Community Centre Children’s Dance and Drama Group are presenting Dorothy’s Adventure on Saturday, October 15, at 3pm and 6.30pm. On Saturday, September 24, Walsingham Festival at St Mary’s, Horden, with Mass at noon. The Right Reverend Philip North, former Curate of St Mary’s, Springwell, Sunderland, is the Celebrant and Preacher. After Mass there is a lunch break at 2.45pm, Sprinkling With Water From The Holy Well of Walsingham, Procession of Our Lady and Benediction.

A Memorial Service will be held at St Gabriel’s Church on Sunday, October 2, at 6.30pm. At this moving and healing service to primarily remember those people who have had a funeral service of thanksgiving in the last six months, led by St Gabriel’s Clergy team of readers, names are read out and candles lit. You can go along to remember anyone. The service is followed by light refreshments. All are welcome.
Outlook, a relaxed midweek service, is held at St Gabriel’s Church on Monday, September 26, from 2pm to 3pm. This is a short, informal service, followed by refreshments and a chat.
Sunderland South Action Group of The Bible Society hold a coffee morning on Wednesday, September 28, from 10.30 to noon at St George’s Church. There will be a bring and buy stall, cake stall and raffle. Tickets are £2 and can be purchased at the door.
