St Nic’s Tots are holding a Macmillan Coffee Afternoon during their toddler session on Thursday, September 29, from 1.30pm to 3pm. There will be arts and crafts, bouncy castle and much more. All are welcome. For more information contact Jan on 07932 478052.

A City Harvest Celebration is at Sunderland Minster on Thursday, September 29. This is a service to give thanks for all who contribute to the life and work of the city. The brief service will begin at 12.15pm and will be followed by lunch. Coffee will be served from 11.30pm. The Mayor and Bishop of Jarrow will be attending. Ewesley Road WI celebrates its 18th anniversary meeting in The Enid Dagg Room of the church on Wednesday, October 5, at 2.15pm. The stall is for the Shoe Box Appeal, competition is Guesstimate, and there will be tea hostessess.

Deptford and Millfield Community Centre Children’s Dance and Drama Group are presenting Dorothy’s Adventure on Saturday, October 15, at 3pm and 6.30pm. Tickets are £4 and can be booked by ringing 07944 884114. You can also call into the Community Centre from 10am to noon, 2pm to 3pm and 4pm to 7pm on Wednesdays.

On Saturday, September 24, Walsingham Festival at St Mary’s, Horden, with Mass at noon. The Right Reverend Philip North, former Curate of St Mary’s, Springwell, Sunderland, is the Celebrant and Preacher. After Mass there is a lunch break at 2.45pm, Sprinkling With Water From The Holy Well of Walsingham, Procession of Our Lady and Benediction.

On Saturday, October 8, there is a table top sale at St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street. Doors open at 9am and the sale begins at 10am. Tables are £5. To book ring 0191 565 6318.

A Memorial Service will be held at St Gabriel’s Church on Sunday, October 2, at 6.30pm. At this moving and healing service to primarily remember those people who have had a funeral service of thanksgiving in the last six months, led by St Gabriel’s Clergy team of readers, names are read out and candles lit. You can go along to remember anyone. The service is followed by light refreshments. All are welcome.

Outlook, a relaxed midweek service, is held at St Gabriel’s Church on Monday, September 26, from 2pm to 3pm. This is a short, informal service, followed by refreshments and a chat.

Sunderland South Action Group of The Bible Society hold a coffee morning on Wednesday, September 28, from 10.30 to noon at St George’s Church. There will be a bring and buy stall, cake stall and raffle. Tickets are £2 and can be purchased at the door.

Ewesley Road Methodist Church are having a Harvest Supper on Monday, September 26, at 7pm. The supper will be pie and peas and there will be entertainment by the St Columbus Players. Entry fee is £5. Why not go along and enjoy a good night.
