Ann and Jill maned the stall Jill’s Bags at Sunderland Minster Vintage and Craft Fayre. There was a variety of stalls selling jewellery, bags, gifts, greetings cards and gift bags. The next one is on Saturday, August 6, from 10am to 3pm. Admission is 50p for adults and children are free.

St Mark’s Nursing Home, on the corner of St Mark’s Road and Hylton Road, is holding a summer fair on Saturday at 1.30pm. Activities will include tombola, bric-a-brac, shove a 2p, stocks, Buzz Game, Hook A Crock, grand draw with great prizes, including a 32” TV, Amazon Fire HD Tablet and many more. There will be hot dogs, chips, pies, cakes, sweets, refreshments. Entry is 20p.

Ewesley Road Methodist Church is having a bring-and-buy a pie coffee morning on Saturday at 10am.
As part of a series of one of the biggest organ recitals in the North East, Graham Thorpe, from The Royal Academy of Music, will be playing at Sunderland Minster. This event begins at 1pm, lasts 50 minutes. Entry is free.
Sunderland Floral Art Club will meet on Tuesday, July 19, at 2pm in The Studio of The Royalty Theatre. Guest demonstrator will be Ann Simpson with her demonstration entitled Two’s Company. Visitors pay £4.
Biscop’s @ The Minster is open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm at Sunderland Minster. On Monday join the newly formed lunch club from 11.30am to 2pm. You have a choice of starter and main course or main course and dessert for £6.95. Tuesday there’s a morning special tea or coffee and scone for £2.50. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday its breakfast from 10am to noon, a bacon or sausage sandwich with a tea or Americano £3. On Friday scampi, chips and salad is available from 11.30am to 2pm for £5.95.
Once again St Nicholas Church is very grateful for the generosity of Morrison’s Supermarket, Doxford Park. The monthly donation of various produce serves the folk who attend the monthly soup and socks provision very well indeed. Many thanks to Lyn and Eric Walton who collect and bag.
Due to the unavailabilty of a number of members the July meeting of The Barnes, Pallion and Millfield Residents’ Association has been rescheduled for tonight at 7pm in St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street, Millfield. The August meeting will now act as the AGM.
