Sunderland Arthritis Care members had a stand at Boots in The Bridges. They handed out leaflets and offered help and information to help those with arthritis.

Deptford and Millfield Community Association celebrated The Queen’s 90th birthday. Members from Millies Pop-In and Golden Circle Group attended the event and both groups would welcome new members. They meet in the Deptford and Millfield C A on Wednesdays at 10.30am and Thursdays at 1.30pm.

Barnes , Pallion and Millfield Residents’ Association will meet on Tuesday, June 7, in St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street, at 7pm.

As We Were, Sunderland 1929-1980s is the title of a film to be presented by Brian Ibinson at the next meeting of Sunderland Men’s Probus Club in Ashbrooke Sports Pavilion tomorrow at 10.30am. Visitors are welcome, no charge. Members annual bus outing will take place on Wednesday, June 15, to Whitby.

Arthritis Care Sunderland Branch will meet in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital, on Wednesday, June 1, from 6pm-8pm. Norman Kirtland will give a talk on Forensics.

On Friday, June 3, at 7pm a Patronal Festival Mass, Solemn Procession and Benediction will be held at The Church of The Good Shepherd, Forset Road. It is the Feast of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

On Saturday, June 4, at 1.30pm, tea and bingo will be held at St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street.

Pallion Gospel Hall, Pallion Road, will hold a family service on the last Sunday of the month at 4pm. It will be followed by tea.

At St Nicholas Church, a new event for the summer season will be afternoon teas. Sandwiches, scones,cakes and tea or coffee will be on offer at St Nicholas Haver Hall on the first Saturday of the month, starting on June 4 from 3.30pm-5pm. The cost will be £3. All are welcome.

A table-top sale will take place at St Mary Magdalene’ Parish Centre, Wilson Street, on Saturday, June 11, from 10am-1pm. Tables are £5 and refreshments will be available.

The annual summer fair will take place at St Nicholas Church on Saturday June 25, at 2pm. Entry is £1 for adults, and 50p for children, to include a drink and refreshment. Lots of stalls, including cakes, tombola, bottles, bric-a-brac, toys, books, plants as well as raffles, face painting, games, hot dogs, cream teas and bouncy castle. For more information, ring 5226188. All are welcome and contributions for the stalls will be gratefully received.

At St Mary Magdalene’s Church on Saturday, June 11, at 1pm there will be a celebratory mass to pray for the Queen (her official birthday celebration). It will be followed by a garden party. Tickets for the party are £3.50, limited numbers.

Greyforce Computer Club is held at Pallion Action Group on Tuesdays from 12.30pm-3.30pm. New a remembers welcome. Learn how to use the internet, maintain your computer, and how to use emails at these free sessions.

As part of the Sunderland Millfield Salvation Army’s Young People’s Anniversary Celebrations, a community fun day will take place on Saturday, June 25, from 10am-2pm. This event is free to all and includes hot dogs, burgers, drinks,inflatables, magician, Punch and Judy, crafts, junior musicians, Indian community dancers, balloon modelling, police car, plus much more. On the Sunday there will be worship services at 11am and 6pm. Leading them for the day will be former Commanding Officers, Majors Steve and Hilary Naylor, who now live and work in Bristol.

Sunderland Theatre Group meets in Deptford and Millfield Community Association on a Friday from 8pm to 10pm. Adults interested in singing and drama are welcome. On a Wednesday there is a children’s dance class from 4.30pm with lessons in tap, modern, ballet, acro, drama, freestyle/stretch classes. Children can go in displays, pantomimes, and competitions.

Sunderland Cardiac Support Group holds exercise classes for you and your partner/carer at Bede Tower, Burdon Road, near The Civic Centre. Sessions are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am-11am and 11.15am-12.15pm.
