Geeta, took along some figures from Nepal to the Bibles and Cribs Exhibition held at Burn Park Methodist Church. There were many nativity scenes on display with some items lent by members and friends of Burn Park Methodist Church.
On the last Sunday of the month, Pallion Gospel Hall, Pallion Road holds a Family Service at 4p, followed by tea.
On Christmas Eve at 6pm, The Church of The Good Shepherd, Forest Road, will hold Lessons and Carols for Christmas, followed by The Vigil Mass of Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve a family carol service will be held at Elim Pentecostal Church, South Hill Crescent, New Durham Road, at 6.30pm.
Burn Park Methodist Church has taken delivery of a selection of books from Sunderland City Library Service. Books can be borrowed and returned at your convenience and the selection will be changed every three months.
The next soup lunch to take place at St Nicholas Church will be on Saturday, January 23, at 12.30pm. The cost is £3, which includes choice of soup, bread, tea, coffee and homemade cake. Everyone is welcome to go along.
On Christmas Eve at 5pm a Christingle service will be held at Sunderland Minster, followed by Midnight Communion at 11.30am. On Friday at 10am there will be a Christmas Eucharist. Visit www.sunderlandminster.com for more information.
An Epiphany Service of Light will be held at St Nicholas Church on Sunday, January 3, at 6pm. All are welcome.
Ewesley Road WI will meet in The Enid Dagg Room of the church on Wednesday, January 6, at 2.15pm. This will be a members’ afternoon (soup and bun). The stall will be recycled Christmas gifts, and the competition, necklace.
St Nicholas Church will have the Blessing of the Crib at 4pm on Christmas Eve and will be followed at 6pm by Christmas Mass. On Christmas Day at 9.30am Holy Communion.
A coffee morning will be held in the JB Hall at St Luke’s Church on Saturday, January 9 at 10am.
On Thursday at midnight The Midnight Mass of Christmas will take place in St Mary Magdalene’s Church, Wilson Street.
Praise 4 All will be held in St Nicholas Church on Sunday, January 31, at 4pm. Held on the last Sunday of the month, this service aims to provide a space to spend time in God’s presence through songs, hymns, prayer, ministry and testimonies. Everyone is welcome.
Burn Park Methodist Church will hold a coffee morning on the third Saturday of every month. The next one will be on Saturday, January 16, from 10am to noon.
On Christmas Day at 10.30am at St Mary Magdalene’s Church, Millfield, mass will be held with carols, followed at 6.30pm by Candlelight Rosary at The Crib and Benediction.
An Open Arms coffee morning will be held at St Nicholas Church on Wednesday, January 6 at 10.30am. All are welcome.
At the November meeting of Sunderland Arthritis Care group, Dr Cody, consultant rheumatologist at Sunderland Royal Hospital, was the guest and the meeting took the form of a question and answer session. Lynn was also at the meeting with her jewellery stall. The group’s next meeting will be on February 3 from 6pm to 8pm in the education centre of the hospital, when Peter McQuillan, from Oliver’s Dental Studio, will be the speaker.
