The switch on of Pallion Christmas Lights, organised by the traders, attracted a large crowd. Santa was in his grotto and St Luke’s Neighbourhood was open with stalls, tea and coffee. A lovely evening was had by all.

Company Choir is performing its latest concert, Songs Around The World, tonight in St Luke’s Neighbourhood Centre, Pallion, at 7pm. Tickets are £5 at the door.
Santa and Rudolph will be touring the streets of Sunderland once again this year with a little help from The Lions Club of Sunderland. On December 15 at 5.30pm he will be in Cleveland Road, Mount Road and High Barnes; December 16 at 5.30pm, Glenesk Road, Greetlands Road, DStannington Grove, Larkfield and Bainbridge Holme Road. December 17, at 3pm, Asda Grangetown. Then on December 18 at 3pm, Morrisons, Seaburn, followed at 5.45pm in Hipsburn Drive, Highside, Seaforth Road; December 19 at 3pm Sainsbury’s Silksworth Lane.
A Christmas fair will talk place at Barbara Priestman Academy on Saturday at 11am. Stalls will include bric-a-brac, toys, raffle, refreshments, greetings cards, Christmas plants and Santa will be dropping in.
Sunderland Music For All Chorus will be presenting Carols At Christmas in Sunderland Minster on Thursday, December 10, at 2pm. Admission is £5.
Ewesley Road Ladies’ Fellowship will meet tonight for a meal in the Enid Dagg Room of the church at 6pm.
Christmas Services at St Mark’s Church, Millfield, are: December 13, at 6pm, carol service with West End Churches Together; December 20, at 4pm, Christingle service. Please note change of date, this is not on the usual Christmas Eve. Christmas Day at 10am, it’s a combined service with St Luke’s Church, Holy Communion for all, songs and family friendly message.

Burn Park Methodist Church holds a Bibles, Cribs and Angels Exhibition on Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm. Enjoy a cup of tea while you browse the memorabilia.
On Sunday at 10.30am a Children’s Nativity Service will take place at St Gabriel’s Church. This is a nativity play featuring their mums and tots groups. This will be followed at 6.30pm by a Holy Communion Service.
It’s panto time at The Royalty Theatre with Rapunzel from December 10 to 20, 12 performances, at 7.15pm. Matinees will be held on December 12 and 13 and December 19 and 20. On Sunday, December 13, at 10.30am a toy service will be held at St Gabriel’s Church.Toys will be donated to be distributed by the Salvation Army in Sunderland. This will be followed at 4pm by Carols By Candlelight, for all the family.
St Mary Magdalene’s Church will hold its Christmas fair in the parish centre on Saturday at 11am. Stalls include, books, toys, gifts, Santa’s Grotto, raffles, tombola, tea and coffee and cakes.
Sunderland Floral Art Club is holding a Christmas Social Event at The Royalty Theatre on Tuesday, December 8. Tickets are £12, includes morning coffee, buffet lunch and all materials supplied by Sheila for a workshop. Coffee will be served from 10.30am. The group welcomes back Eileen Glentorn with Christmas Cracker. Eileen, recently presented with the Presidents Cup from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association for her portrayal of Norma Desmond in the Durham Musical Theatre Company production of Sunset Boulevard at the Gala Theatre, is donating her fee to Sunderland Floral Art Club’s chosen charity, The Great North Air Ambulance.
Barnes Pallion and Millfield Residents’ Association will not have a meeting this month or next. The next meeting takes place on the first Tuesday in February.
Saint Luke’s Church coffee morning will be held on Saturday at 10a. There will be a jewellery stall, raffle, and coffee, tea and scones.
the Arthritis Care Group meeting in October had the theme of of Time for Tea. Members were asked to take along raffle prizes and cakes to help raise funds for the group. Everyone had a great time.
